In this combined view you will discover in the first part, the Castle of the Templars. We will enter the bowels of this magnificent fortress to discover its wall of three rounds, its five towers, spiral staircases, palaces, as well as its libraries.
And in a second part, as the city has been for centuries, an obligatory passage (between the plateau and the neighboring Galician lands) of the pilgrims who travel the Camino de Santiago to Compostela, which were protected by the Knights Templar within the walls del Castillo; thus growing the walled city and forming a Jewish community.
At the meeting point, our visit begins next to the Ponferrada Information and Tourism Office. A few meters away, the Castle and its walls keep mysteries of more than 800 years, do you know what the cave of the mora is? And the cross of Tau?
We will end the visit with a beautiful walk through the old town, where we will show you: the Bridge (Pons Ferrata), the Church of San Andrés, La Casa de los Escudos (Luis Del Olmo Radio Museum), the Plaza de la Encina and its church, Calle del Reloj (where we will show you the old Prison, the Convent of the Purísima Concepción, the Tower) and we will end in the Plaza de las Eras (to see the old Town Hall, the Gil Institute and Carrasco and the Macias House).
The guided tour is on foot through the historic center of Ponferrada, outside locations. Entrance fees to monuments are not included.
