The Museum of Art Contemporáneo of Castilla y León opens its doors in April 2005 with different exhibitions, workshops, conferences and cycles. Being a project ofthe Junta de Castilla y León through the Fundación Siglopara las Artes.
Emilio Tuñón and Luis Moreno Mansilla were responsible for so much architectural beauty, as in 2007 they were awarded the Mies Van Der Roche Prize for Contemporary Architecture by the European Union. The façade is made up of more than 3351 decorblind glass, whose design was obtained by digitizing an image of the El Halconero stained glass window in León Cathedral, one of the oldest in the 13th century.
